Job Summary
Fitter will perform skilled duties in the operation, maintenance and installation of natural gas piping systems and related facilities at the Altoona location. Responsibilities include setting meters, retiring old meter sets, setting curb boxes, repairing service lines, connecting and disconnecting meters, repairing leaks, and using tapping and air compressor equipment. Will also perform ditch digging, back filling, and carry tools/materials; operate backhoes, excavators, and dump trucks. This position is regulated by 49 CFR Part 192 and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Veterans are encouraged to apply; transferrable military skills are welcome. Successful candidates must complete a background check, motor vehicle report, and a DOT drug screening; may be required to become operationally qualified on a backhoe during probation. Strong preference for prior pipeline experience; equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain a Class A CDL
- Experience outdoors construction/manual labor
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (backhoe preferred)
- Operational qualification in backhoe during probation
- Background investigation including criminal history, MVR, and a DOT drug screening
