Job Summary
Fitness Specialist to teach group fitness classes, conduct personal training, supervise exercise areas, educate members on safe exercise techniques, prescribe exercise per ACSM guidelines, conduct safety/efficiency assessments (cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, body composition), evaluate data and identify high risk participants, assist members with spotting and equipment use, explain all equipment, maintain safety and cleanliness of equipment, attend staff meetings, assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events, and perform daily administrative duties. Requires a B.S. in Exercise Physiology or related field, a nationally accredited NCCA certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, or NSCA) usable within 90 days, active CPR, 0-1 year experience supervising adults during exercises, strong communication and customer-service orientation, organizational and creative skills, and the ability to obtain federal security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Exercise Physiology or in related health/fitness field
- National fitness certification accredited by NCCA (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM or NSCA) - can be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Active CPR certification
- 0-1 year experience in supervising adults during exercises
