Job Summary
Fitness trainers and instructors lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercise, strength training, balance and stretching, with an emphasis on residents of a skilled nursing facility to improve mobility and reduce fall risk. They assess current fitness levels, goals, and skills, adapt workouts for different levels, monitor progress, enforce safety rules, share nutrition and lifestyle information, select appropriate music for classes, design class routines, and tailor workouts to residents’ needs while maintaining motivational and positive communication to encourage continued participation.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Personal trainer
- Exercise Physiologist
- Group Fitness Instruction or other related specialty fitness certifications
