Job Summary
Fitness Graduate Assistant assists with administrative and operational duties of the SRWC facility under the Fitness Manager, overseeing recruitment and supervision of student staff, developing and evaluating fitness and wellness programs, preparing quarterly/annual reports, coordinating training and certifications (CPR/First Aid/AED), scheduling staff for group exercise and events, leading the personal training program, and supporting program promotion and evaluation within a university recreation setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; background in exercise science, health science, recreation, physical education, sports management, or related field is preferred.
- Enrolled in and making satisfactory progress in the preferred areas of Kinesiology, Wellness Education, Recreation Administration, Higher Education Administration or other related fields or related graduate degree program at CSULB.
- Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.
- Minimum of one year of experience in the fitness and wellness field, campus recreation fitness/wellness position, or community fitness recreation programming preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Currently holds minimum certification in one or more of ACSM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA, NASM or reasonable substitute.
