Job Summary
Oversee all interactions on the fitness floor, maintaining a safe environment and performing facility rounds every 30-60 minutes to monitor pools, locker rooms, and equipment. Schedule appointments for fitness assessments and orientations, provide supervision and basic exercise instruction, and act as first responder to medical emergencies using AED and first aid supplies. Assist in planning member retention programs, promote ancillary services including personal training and wellness coaching, and maintain cleanliness of all areas while reporting equipment issues. Perform opening and closing procedures as scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Enrolled in a health-related, exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education program
- Prior work experience or an internship in the fitness industry
- Outgoing, personable and have the ability to motivate members and actively teach assigned courses
- CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- Ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner
- Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to lift 45 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related, exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education program
- Nationally recognized NCCA accredited certification
- Certification for some specialty group exercise class instruction
