Job Summary
Fitness Assistant to organize and implement wellness programs for residents, including group and water classes, and to provide one-on-one coaching to monitor progress. Responsibilities include designing and adjusting exercise plans for elders and disabled individuals, instructing residents on safe equipment use, promoting wellness activities, supporting the Activity Director during weekend programs, and leading various group activities while maintaining confidentiality and a positive, proactive approach. Requires strong knowledge of recreational activities, ability to work with older populations, and a solid set of multitasking and program-development skills. Part-time schedule includes weekend shifts with start times between 7:00 AM and 9:30 AM, plus some evenings.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues
- Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals
- Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities
- Shows familiarity and experience using a wide variety of equipment related to recreational programs
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
- Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pressure
