Fishery Biologist II/ Data Analyst

Job Summary
Manage and maintain SRHS/NMFS databases; perform QA/QC on bio samples daily; check and validate data; submit weekly status reports. Compile dockside sampling data from head boat port agents in the South Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico; maintain and develop QA/QC analyses and procedures; track vessel reporting compliance; compile vessel directory. Perform and assist with data analyses using SAS and/or R in support of SEDAR activities and general scientific inquiries. Assist in completion of annual report summarizing head boat survey data. Write scientific proposals; review reports, manuscripts, and scientific proposals. Participate in public outreach and scientific meetings. Submit weekly status reports. Education/Experience: MS Degree in Marine Science or related field or BS Degree + 3 years relevant experience; knowledge of data management and analysis of fishery data; proficient in SAS, R, Oracle, and Access. Skills: SAS and/or R analytics; Oracle and relational databases; Microsoft Excel, Access; Data QA/QC and compliance monitoring; Statistical analysis. Desirable: Experience with recreational fishery data management and analysis; knowledge of statistical concepts and theory.
Required Qualifications
- MS Degree in Marine Science or related field; OR BS Degree + 3 years relevant experience
- Knowledge of data management and analysis of fishery data
- Proficient in advanced database software: SAS, R, Oracle, and Access
- SAS and/or R analytical software
- Oracle and relational databases
- Microsoft Excel, Access
- Data QA/QC and compliance monitoring
- Statistical analysis
