Fisheries Hatchery Technician II

Job Summary
Hatchery Technician II is responsible for feeding and rearing juvenile salmonids and providing overall care and maintenance to the Tribal Fish Hatchery across six remote site acclimation ponds and the hatchery. Duties include feeding with hand or blower systems, assisting Hatchery Manager with fish culture, participating in stream surveys and tagging/recapture activities, harvesting eggs/milt, transferring fry to ponds, maintaining raceways and egg screens, operating and repairing hatchery equipment, managing water flow and temperature, sorting fish by size/color/species, and other duties as assigned. Requires a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, 2 years of fisheries-related experience or education, a valid WA Driver’s License, and possibly CDL; Indian preference applied. The role involves physical effort, outdoor work, and travel as needed, with a 40-hour workweek and benefits package from the Tribe.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 years of experience working at a fish hatchery/fishery or related field OR equivalent education/experience totaling two years in fisheries
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License (unrestricted)
- Ability to qualify for CDL (preferred)
- Indian Preference – Native American preference per law
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively; basic mathematic and safety literacy
