Job Summary
Protect state Capitol and surrounding state buildings in Lincoln; perform vehicle and foot patrols, monitor security cameras, and control after-hours building access. Provide assistance to state employees and the public, write incident reports, and maintain logs. Respond to emergencies, alarms, and medical incidents; operate access-control systems and ensure compliance with safety policies. Must communicate effectively with a wide range of people and maintain calm and professional conduct under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience required for entry to this class.
- Preferred Qualifications: One year of security experience and Microsoft Office.
- Requires certification in first aid and CPR or must obtain within first six months of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services employment eligibility requirements by completing an EEV (I-9) Form.
- Valid driver’s license and completion of approved defensive driving class.
- Must be able to walk approximately five miles per shift and ascend stairs.
- Must be able to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Extensive background screening including a Personal History Questionnaire and fingerprint-based check.
