Job Summary
Update, modify, and continuously improve existing laser processing systems while operating CNC laser machines to fabricate sheet metal parts according to prints. Eliminate quality errors from lasers and assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of APQP activities for assigned programs. Provide customer interface support and participate in continuous improvement projects. Operate forklifts to move material and equipment, load and unload finished goods, and maintain 6S standards across all workstations. Requires 1-3 years of laser experience, preferably with Mazak, and ability to work 8-10 hour shifts in a high-paced environment with noise, dust, and repetitive lifting. Close collaboration with production, engineering, and quality staff is critical for meeting on-time delivery goals.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of prior experience with lasers- preferably Mazak
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Read a tape measure and other measurement tools
- Intermediate math skills (ex. Algebra, trigonometry)
- Advanced computer skills
- Mechanical inclination
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Interpersonal and written communication
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Work well with others on a team
- Function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Solve problems quickly and efficiently
- Work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to have performance measured daily
- Ability to work up to 8-10 hour shifts and overtime as required by the work
- Use of all limbs, dexterous and steady use of hands and arms for long periods of time
- Simultaneous mental and muscular coordination, visual and audio awareness of surrounding area
- Routine, repetitive lifting up to 35 lbs.
- occasional, heavy lifting, and pushing / pulling 10 lbs. regularly, 1 to 10 hours per day
- Any combination of sitting, standing, bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, feeling, and walking 8 to 10 hours per day
Desired Qualifications
- Metal fabrication (shear, presses, turrets, laser cutting, plasma cutting) and MIG welding experience
