Job Summary
Indigenous Recruitment and Student Engagement Officer responsible for leading recruitment and access initiatives to promote Canadore College and the First Peoples’ Centre to prospective Indigenous learners. Organizes community outreach, campus tours, presentations, and recruitment events across Ontario; supports pathway navigation and culturally grounded engagement activities; contributes to student retention through events and culturally relevant programming to promote connection, belonging, and student success; requires frequent travel, confident public speaking, and sustained relationship-building with Indigenous communities and partners.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) year Diploma in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Office Administration, Indigenous Studies, Education, Social Services, Community Development, or a related field
- Minimum two (2) years relevant experience in Indigenous education, community outreach, learner engagement, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with Indigenous communities, schools, education counselors, Indigenous organizations and community partners
- Experience coordinating events, presentations, workshops, campus visits, community outreach activities, or student engagement initiatives with strong public speaking, facilitation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and exercise sound judgement
- Familiarity with postsecondary systems and Indigenous education pathways is considered an asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and ability to travel extensively. Valid Canadian passport or ability to obtain one required
- In-person, on-campus position. Must be able to reliably commute to North Bay, ON.
