Job Summary
First Nations Culture and Capability Manager leads the Kurrunpa Kana Team through supervision, mentoring, and professional development; delivers and reviews cultural orientation and cultural capability programs; promotes cultural safety across policies, recruitment, workforce practices, and programs; develops Indigenous Engagement strategies, training resources, and culturally appropriate workforce initiatives; builds respectful relationships with communities, Elders, Traditional Owners, and Aboriginal organisations; supports recruitment, development, and retention of First Nations employees and future leaders; coordinates First Nations engagement projects ensuring community voices are central to service delivery; provides cultural guidance to managers and staff; represents Purple House in community meetings and engagement activities; ensures compliance with organisational policies and WHS requirements and participates in continuous improvement; Aboriginal Identified role with relocation support for eligible applicants. The role is based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, with in-person remote options.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in cultural advisory roles with demonstrated leadership capability
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, communities, and issues affecting remote Central Australia, NT, WA, and SA
- Experience working within Aboriginal organisations or community-controlled environments
- Strong cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills across diverse communities and stakeholders
- Knowledge of First Nations history, health inequities, and impacts relating to kidney disease
- High-level written, verbal, leadership, and strategic collaboration skills
- Committed to Aboriginal self-determination, cultural safety, and community-led approaches
- Aboriginal language skills relevant to Purple House communities will be highly regarded
