Job Summary
The First Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher role focuses on maintaining instructional continuity during a teacher’s extended absence by implementing established lesson plans, managing classroom routines, and supporting student learning in alignment with Catholic school policies and curriculum. Responsibilities include planning with sequenced objectives, delivering engaging instruction, applying formative and summative assessments, keeping accurate student records, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and collaborating with administration and staff to ensure smooth instructional experiences. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, adherence to diocesan teaching requirements, and the ability to work with Catholic teachings; 2+ years of relevant teaching experience is preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills are essential, along with proficiency in educational technology and a commitment to Catholic values.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
- Must meet minimum teaching requirements as set forth by the Diocese and TCCB ED
- Classroom teaching experience preferred
- Completion of required diocesan or school-mandated training and staff development
- Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
- Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques
- Ability to follow established lesson plans and instructional guidelines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing classroom needs
