Job Summary
First Cook role at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire (Contract) supports restaurant culinary operations by leading station execution, ensuring consistent food quality, and assisting with daily kitchen operations. Responsibilities include preparing and serving items for à la carte and buffet menus, leading assigned stations during service, maintaining knowledge of menu items/allergens/promotions, upholding plating standards, managing mise en place, and collaborating with culinary and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth operations. Emphasis on strong culinary leadership, technical expertise, safe food handling, FIFO inventory practices, portion control, waste reduction, and adherence to Alberta Health Services regulations. Required to have Journeyperson/Red Seal certification (or international equivalent) and Food Handler certification; a culinary diploma or certification is preferred. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, flexibility to work mornings/evenings/weekends/holidays, and a maternity-leave coverage window through May 3, 2027.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyperson/Red Seal certification or international equivalent required
- Food Handler certification required
- Culinary diploma or certification preferred
