Job Summary
First Assistant Engineer (1AE) for Hornblower Group’s Seaward Services vessel operations. Supports safe and efficient operation of the Engineering Department; assists Chief Engineer in maintenance, operation, and repair of propulsion and auxiliary systems; serves as a senior engineering officer, stands engine room watches, and responds to engineering requirements both underway and in port per vessel schedule; maintains logs, maintenance records, and reports; upholds safety, environmental, and regulatory standards; may assist in training junior engineers and provide engineering oversight. Position requires MMC with STCW endorsements for Chief/Second Engineer Officer level, medical certification, TWIC, US passport, physical ability for confined spaces and climbing, and strong diagnostic/repair skills; able to operate as part of an engineering team and work in accordance with shipboard watch schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with STCW endorsements meeting: Chief Engineer/Second Engineer Officer of 3,000 kW (4,000 HP) or More
- Valid Medical Certificate meeting USCG standards for engineering service
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must possess or be eligible for a United States Passport
- Must meet physical and medical requirements for shipboard engineering duties, including the ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift equipment
- Strong technical and mechanical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair shipboard systems
- Ability to stand rotating watches and respond to engineering emergencies as required
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of an engineering team
- Must meet all company and contractual requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
