Job Summary
Deploy, configure, and manage enterprise firewalls and VPN gateways to ensure secure, highly available network connectivity. Configure Next-Generation Firewall policies, including application control and intrusion prevention, while implementing access control lists and hardening security appliances to strict DoD STIG compliance. Monitor network traffic, analyze logs for anomalies, and resolve helpdesk tickets related to connectivity and remote access. Perform routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, and vulnerability patching for all infrastructure. Author and maintain standard operating procedures, network topology diagrams, and firewall rule approval records. Adhere to strict change management workflows for all configuration modifications. Maintain operational availability outside standard hours to remediate critical infrastructure issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT-related field
- 4+ years of IT-related experience
- 5 years of progressively relevant experience (L08)
- 8 years of progressively relevant experience (L09)
- Current US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and secure access to the AEDC local area network (LAN)
- Commitment to obtaining requisite certifications in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring
- Active baseline certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) to meet DoD 8140 IAT requirements
- Vendor-specific certifications such as Fortinet NSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security, or equivalent
- Proven hands-on experience administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining FortiGate, Forcepoint Firewalls, and Cisco ASA VPNs in an enterprise or government environment
- Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, subnetting, and VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL/TLS, Cisco AnyConnect)
- Demonstrated experience with continuous network monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and applying DoD STIGs to network appliances
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex network traffic and routing issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with peers, end-users, and management
- Ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours
- Ability to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
