Job Summary
Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls to protect life and property, extinguish structure and wildland fires, drive emergency apparatus, perform automobile and technical rescues, and provide emergency medical care. Maintain an Illinois EMT-Paramedic license and hold a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card with ladder certification. Meet minimum age requirements of 20 to 34 years, with specific military exceptions, and reside within a 30-mile radius of any Collinsville Fire Station.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- Applicants must be at least twenty (20) years of age
- Applicants must be under thirty-four (34) years of age on the applications deadline date
- Valid driver's license
- Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card with ladder certification issued within twelve months immediately preceding the date of application
- Valid Paramedic License (EMT-P)
- Licensed as an Illinois EMT Paramedic at time of hire
- Enrolled in a program to become an Illinois Licensed paramedic at the time of application (if not currently licensed)
- Residency within thirty (30) mile radius of any Collinsville Fire Station no later than six (6) months after the probationary period
Desired Qualifications
- Credible military service
- Associate Degree in Fire Science or Emergency Medical Services from an accredited Community or Junior College
- Bachelor Degree in any field from an accredited College or University
- Currently employed by a municipality as paid-on-call or part-time for at least 24 consecutive months at time of application
- Certified by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office as Basic Operations Firefighter (Firefighter II)
- Licensed by the State of Illinois or nationally licensed as a paramedic
- Currently employed as full-time firefighters or firefighter-paramedics by a fire protection district or another municipality for at least 24 consecutive months at time of application
- Currently employed as full-time firefighters or firefighter-paramedics by a fire protection district or another municipality for at least 12 consecutive months at time of application but less than 24-months
- Currently employed as a full-time Paramedic
- Certified or licensed by the State of Illinois as a Firefighter Basic or Advanced by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office at the time of application
- Active service in the United States military for at least one (1) year and honorable discharge or currently on inactive or reserve duty
