Job Summary
Conduct daily fire suppression and rescue operations while providing emergency medical services as a certified EMT. Perform fire inspections, enforce building codes, and operate fire apparatus in compliance with NFPA 472 standards. Maintain readiness for 24/7 coverage and complete required physical, psychological, and medical evaluations. This role within the City of Otsego Fire Department requires Firefighter I and II certification, a valid driver's license, and current Minnesota firefighter licensure.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass department criminal background, physical, psychological, and medical evaluations
- Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification (recognized by IFSAC ProBoard)
- Current and valid Emergency Medical Technician certification from the Minnesota EMSRB or National Registry of EMT's at the time of hire
- Current licensed Firefighter in the State of Minnesota or ability to be licensed by time of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as an EMT or paramedic
- Experience as a Firefighter
- Post-secondary education in Fire Science or closely related field
- Certified Minnesota Fire Apparatus Operator (FAO)
- Successful completion of a Hazardous Materials Operations NFPA 472 compliant class
- Certified Fire Inspector
- Experience with fire and building code
