Job Summary
The Norfolk Airport Authority is hiring a Firefighter to provide aircraft rescue, firefighting and emergency medical services as a member of the Airport Fire Department. Duties include responding to aircraft and other emergencies, performing firefighting/rescue/EMS duties, conducting safety inspections, maintaining fire hydrants and equipment, participating in training, and preparing reports. Must hold Firefighter II, Aircraft Rescue Firefighter, EMT, and HazMat-Operations qualifications, maintain a clean DMV driving record, and meet physical/medical requirements for ARFF operations. High school diploma or equivalent required; anticipated schedule includes 24-hour shifts with overtime, weekends, holidays, and recall. Starting rate of $24.2489 per hour ($65,569.12 annual).
Required Qualifications
- Firefighter II (NFPA 1001 2002 Standard or most current)
- Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (NFPA 1003 2010 Standard or most current)
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Hazardous Materials – Operations
- A current copy of your DMV driving record
