Job Summary
Provide fire protection, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and life safety education for the University of Notre Dame community, responding to a wide range of emergencies on campus and in affiliated areas. Perform fire inspections, testing and maintenance of fire alarm and protection systems, equipment upkeep of departmental facilities, and ongoing training to ensure operational readiness. Contribute to public safety through prevention efforts, community engagement, and collaboration with mutual aid jurisdictions; work a 24-hour shift pattern with regular overtime as needed to maintain minimum staffing levels and continuous emergency response. Exhibit strong teamwork, calm decision-making under pressure, effective communication with diverse individuals, and a commitment to protecting life and property.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in firefighting, emergency medical services, or a related emergency response field
- Preferred Education: Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) or Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Safety, Emergency Medical Services, or related field
