Job Summary
Firefighter II role performing fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency rescue, and basic medical duties to protect life and property. Duties include incident command at fire and emergency scenes, handling firefighting operations for structural and non-structural fires, providing EMS lifesaving services as an EMT, performing search and rescue, operating fire rescue equipment and apparatus, maintaining facilities and equipment, and ensuring readiness for emergency calls. Requires operating a fire engine and related equipment, plus ability to work under adverse environmental conditions and meet physical demands described; reports to the Chester County Emergency Services Director or designee with limited supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma
- Three (3) years of Fire Service experience
- SC Class E or CDL license
- NIMS 100/200/700/800 (NIMS 300 within 1 year of hire)
- National Registry EMT
- IFSAC Firefighter II
- HAZMAT Technician
- Emergency Vehicle Driver Training
- Basic Auto Extrication
- Pump Ops I
- Swiftwater Rescue Tech I (within 1 year of hire)
- Rope Rescue
- All non-IFSAC certifications and certificates must have been obtained through or approved by the South Carolina Fire Academy
