Job Summary
Uncertified Firefighter/EMT sworn position with starting pay of $22.61/hour; duties include ongoing training, responding to emergencies, complete apparatus and facility checks, maintain equipment, and perform duties as assigned by the Fire Chief. After academy and certifications, position progresses toward certified firefighter. Shift schedule is 48 hours on/96 hours on duty, with potential 40-hour weeks during training; location Carlsbad, NM.
Required Qualifications
- Pass NFPA 1583 physical annually
- Complete rigorous fire academy in permitted time
- Obtain Hazardous Materials Operations, Firefighter 1 and 2, NWCG S-130/190/L-180 certifications
- Obtain all required NIMS certifications
- Driver operator
- Basic EMS for firefighters
- Approved CPR course
- Pass National Registry test within up to three attempts after training completion
