Job Summary
Firefighter I / AEMT on a full-time basis with a 48/96-hour shift performing emergency response, firefighting, basic emergency medical care (EMT-I/A to paramedic scope), rescue operations, and public-safety duties. Responsibilities include complying with fire codes, operating firefighting equipment, locating water sources, providing emergency medical care and transportation, conducting vehicle and structure extrications, participating in training and community outreach, and maintaining equipment and records. Requires GFSTC Firefighter certification and NPQ Firefighter 1, Georgia or National Registry EMT intermediate/advanced/paramedic license, HS diploma or GED, and valid driver’s license; must meet age and background requirements and complete all hiring steps. Preferred CPR certification and NPQ Hazardous Materials Operations.
Required Qualifications
- GFSTC Firefighter certification
- National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter 1 certification
- Georgia and/or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic license
- High School Diploma or GED Certification
- Valid US Driver’s License and GA Driver’s License
- 18 years of age
- No felony conviction in the past 10 years
- Must pass physical fitness assessment
- Must pass extensive background investigation
- Must pass post-offer polygraph examination, psychological and medical evaluations and drug screen
