Job Summary
Supervise the firearms department by ensuring compliance with ATF, state, and federal laws, including 4473 and 3310 forms, while maintaining merchandise presentation, inventory control, and pricing standards. Execute sales plans to meet financial targets, manage staff selection, development, and performance appraisals, and coordinate training for associates. Open and close the store, build keys, and lead firearm safe handling and safety operations. Resolve customer and associate issues, assist with investigations, and promote programs such as CLUB Membership and in-store pickup to deliver a legendary customer experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid NYS Pistol Permit
- Minimum of 3-5 years in Retail Management
- Experience with firearms safe handling practices
- Skill in the accurate ID of firearms and ammunition
- Knowledge of firearms classification
- Knowledge of firearms mechanical operation
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of other financial, legal, and technical information
- Ability to read and analyze certain reports
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing
- Proficiency with spreadsheets
- Proficiency with data-based management systems
- Proficiency with electronic point of sale systems
- Proficiency with inventory management systems
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Corporate Staff
- Demonstrated use of Team concept of Management
