Fire Suppression Hood Technician

Job Summary
Perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems including commercial kitchen hood systems and fire extinguishers. Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, and related components to verify proper operation and code compliance. Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and supervisors. Read blueprints, system layouts, and technical manuals to complete inspection work efficiently and safely. Complete inspection reports, deficiency documentation, and service records accurately and on time. Travel to job sites as required while adhering to all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, if driving role
- Strong working knowledge of fire suppression systems and inspection procedures
- Ability to work independently and complete standard inspection jobs without direct supervision
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings
- NICET Level I or above
- Experience with commercial fire suppression systems and inspection compliance requirements
- ICC FK – Pre-engineered Kitchen Fire Extinguishing Systems Technician
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Desired Qualifications
- NICET Level I or above preferred
- Experience with commercial fire suppression systems and inspection compliance requirements preferred
