Job Summary
Lead technician position responsible for NFPA 25 inspection/testing of water-based fire protection systems, including service, maintenance, and repairs, as well as minor modification and retrofit of sprinkler systems. Responsibilities include backflow inspection/testing, identifying NFPA compliance issues with remediation recommendations, coordinating with field and office staff to ensure high-quality customer service, performing visual system inspections, documenting work electronically, and maintaining safety standards. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Connecticut fire sprinkler license (F1/F2), 1-3 years of relevant service experience, ability to use software/applications on iPad, strong communication and organizational skills, and physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at heights. Willingness to be on 24-hour on-call rotation, potentially working off-hours, and adherence to safety policies. Employment is hourly with a pay range of $39-$46 per hour, and benefits including healthcare, PTO, 401(k) with company match, and apprenticeship/licensing support.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Connecticut F1/F2 fire sprinkler license
- 1-3 years’ service work experience in Sprinkler, fire pump, and Backflow systems service
- Fire and /or Life Safety Systems experience
- Must have or be able & willing to attain state Connecticut Backflow certification
- Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
- Capable of passing a pre-employment background, MVR and drug test
- Customer oriented interpersonal skills
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Must be able to exercise effective time management skills
- Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to perform NFPA 25 inspection and testing services
- Must be able to use general hand tools and power safely and effectively tools
- Must be capable of using various Arial lifts and boom trucks
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds
- Must be able to push and pull greater than 75 pounds as needed
- Must be able to safely use and climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 24 feet
- Must be able, on a regular basis, work comfortably at a height of greater than 26 feet
- Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required
- MVR checks are required for all driving positions
