Job Summary
Inspect and test fire sprinkler and life-safety systems, performing routine inspections, documenting deficiencies, and providing professional representation of the company. Complete inspections with proper coding via laptops or hardcopy, follow a structured schedule, perform minor repairs and programming changes to inspected systems, and assist foreman with installation tasks. Must be able to carry/move equipment up to 70 lbs, work in challenging positions, and be willing to travel; enrollment in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program is required to maintain apprenticeship standards. The role emphasizes safety adherence, customer service, and the ability to learn quickly in a cross-trained environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Able to obtain and retain licenses as required by National, State and Local codes
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals
- Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage
- Capable of performing physical labor up to 50-70 lbs
- Ability to work in unusual positions (ladders, scaffolding, high lift) up to 40 feet
- Willingness to travel out of town
- Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements
