Job Summary
Interpret project drawings to determine installation requirements for fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Delegate tasks to fitters, mechanics, and assistants while overseeing site technicians to meet project deadlines and scheduling goals. Install and test fire suppression equipment on new or retrofit construction projects, communicating design changes to match actual site conditions. Manage materials delivered to the site and perform minor fabrication, updating daily progress notes on job contract drawings. Instruct helpers and apprentices on service, repair, and system installation processes while maintaining accurate paperwork and company vehicle standards.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of pipefitting, plumbing regulations, and fire protection codes
- Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to display knowledge of principles and practices of fire safety
- Ability to display knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work
- Ability to display knowledge of basic practices of reviewing official documents for completeness and accuracy
- Ability to act in a lead capacity
- Ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs
- Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment and machinery
