Fire Sprinkler Designer

Job Summary
Design fire sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems for commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional projects; develop sprinkler layouts, demolition plans, permit drawings, and detailed construction documents using AutoCAD and HydraCAD; perform hydraulic calculations using HydraCALC; conduct site visits and field surveys across the GTA; review and coordinate architectural, mechanical, structural, electrical, and civil drawings; ensure compliance with OBC, OFC, and NFPA standards; prepare permit submissions and coordinate approvals with authorities; participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance; assist with project scoping, estimating, proposal preparation, and design reviews; support QA/QC initiatives; maintain strong communication with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders; identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and support business development.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of Fire Sprinkler Design experience
- Strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, and fire pumps
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and HydraCALC
- Working knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, NFPA 13D, NFPA 14, NFPA 20
- Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC) and Ontario Fire Code (OFC) and applicable standards
- Ability to independently produce sprinkler design packages with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Must reside within the Greater Toronto Area
- Degree or Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline (preferred)
- Professional designation or certifications such as P.Eng., EIT, CET, CFAA, NICET, CFPS, or BCIN are assets (preferred)
