Job Summary
Fire Sprinkler Designer to create designs, submittals, and permit drawings for local upfits, tenant improvements, and small-scale projects. Requires strong grasp of NFPA standards, permitting processes, and fire sprinkler system layouts; collaborates with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure code-compliant designs and smooth project execution. Responsibilities include designing and laying out fire sprinkler systems, producing submittal and permit drawings, generating material lists and equipment specifications, performing hydraulic calculations, coordinating with AHJs, supporting field teams, assisting in cost estimates, participating in pre-submittal meetings and project reviews, maintaining project documentation, and communicating design challenges and schedule updates. Preferred: experience with small commercial upfits/renovations, working with local fire marshals and permitting offices, and prior field experience in fire sprinkler installation or inspections.
Required Qualifications
- NICET Level II or higher in Fire Sprinkler Layout (or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or SprinkCAD (or similar design software)
- Familiarity with NFPA 13, 14, 20, and applicable building codes
- Ability to create permit-ready submittal drawings
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
