Job Summary
Perform installation, service, testing, and repair on fire alarm, suppression, intrusion, CCTV, and communication systems across Colonial Williamsburg properties. Maintain wet, dry, and deluge systems while troubleshooting electronic security components and adhering to strict safety protocols. Demonstrate proficiency with schematics and tools, document all work, and mentor junior technicians. Work nights, weekends, and holidays with 24-hour on-call coverage; this Journeyman level role offers $25.00 to $37.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
- 4-8 years' experience in application of various types of life safety and property protection systems
- Journeyman level Technician
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Proficiency in reading basic electronic or electrical schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work at heights above 30 feet on ladders, scaffolds, and bucket trucks
- Willingness to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays and emergency calls
- Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license
- Acceptable driving record based on The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's criteria
- Ability to provide a 5-year Motor Vehicle Record prior to employment
- At least 21 years of age
- No more than 1 moving violation or at fault accident within 12 months
- No more than 2 moving violations or at fault accidents within 36 months
- No serious motor vehicle violations including but not limited to excessive speeding, reckless driving, DUI/DWI, suspended or revoked license, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Colonial Williamsburg Foundation properties
- Completion of National F/A and B/A classes/certification
- Completion of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) F/A and Sprinkler classes/certification
- Completion of National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Fire Alarm Systems Levels I
- Completion of NICET Fire Alarm Systems Inspection and Testing Levels I
- Completion of NICET Water Based Systems Inspection and Testing Levels I
