Job Summary
The Fire Protection Technician is responsible for service, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire detection systems, and water-based fire protection systems. Key responsibilities include performing detailed visual inspections, documenting repairs, and assisting in maintaining equipment. The role requires at least one year of relevant experience, the ability to operate electronic safety equipment, knowledge of OSHA and NFPA regulations, and proficiency in Personal Protection Equipment. A high school diploma and an associate degree or technical training are preferred, along with strong teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of field experience in fire protection or related industry
- Certification in respiratory protection where required
- Ability to work as part of a team
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with portable and fixed fire extinguisher systems
- Proficiency in electronic safety equipment operation
- Knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to fire protection
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems
