Fire Protection Specialist

Job Summary
Inspect, test, maintain, and repair installed fire alarm suppression systems per manufacturer specs and NFPA standards. Perform complete repairs and routine preventive maintenance on dry/wet pipe alarms, pre-action, and deluge systems. Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems using hand and power tools. Cut openings in walls and floors, thread pipe, and join systems with solder, plastic solvent, and caulks. Install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, water heaters, and garbage disposals, and repair leaks or clogs. Weld holding fixtures to steel structural members as needed. US Citizenship required for facility credentials. Must possess NICET Level III or Higher Fire Protection Certification and a valid driver's license. Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Three (3) years or more experience in installation, repair of wet pipe alarm valves, dry pipe alarm valves, pre-action and deluge systems
- Familiarity with aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) systems
- Knowledge of NFPA-13 manuals for fire protection systems
- Ability to operate alarm control panels, fire pumps, and controllers
- Ability to work at various heights from mechanical lifting devices
- Possession of the tools of their trade
- Ability to wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standards
- Subject to a government security investigation and meeting eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay
- Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
- US Citizenship
- NICET Level III or Higher Fire Protection Certification/Fire Suppression
- Valid state driver's license
