Fire Protection Estimator - Special Projects

Job Summary
Review construction documents, scope of work, and general conditions to create accurate bid takeoffs for fire protection projects. Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations, distribute plans and addendas via company systems, and review pricing for completeness on self-performed work. Assist in developing bid strategies, negotiating subcontracts, and entering estimates into the job cost control program. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and turnover meetings with the operations team. Coordinate scope of work between in-house trades and ensure full compliance with NFPA codes. Meet critical deadlines while working as part of a team in an office environment with occasional site visits.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in large fire protection construction projects or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-2+ years' Estimating/Pre-Construction experience
- Demonstrate knowledge and efficiency in fire protection hydraulic calculation software
- General understanding of NFPA codes that relate to the Fire Protection industry. NFPA 13, 14, 20 and 24
- Understanding and capable of laying out Fire Protection systems
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be able to meet critical deadlines
- Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- Must be available to work assigned schedules
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- AAS or BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related discipline
- Prior military experience
