Job Summary
Support engineering design, analysis, calculations, and specifications for facility fire and life safety systems. Develop building and fire code compliance documents, including Alternate Means & Methods to local AHJs, and conduct fire/life safety code reviews. Perform hazardous material analysis for chemical classification and inventory management while reviewing contractor shop drawings. Assist facility construction teams with field solutions and support commissioning activities during pre-test and AHJ testing phases. Prepare technical reports and presentations on fire detection, sprinkler system design, and industrial fire hazards. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, 2+ years of fire protection experience, and willingness to work extended hours and travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- 2+ years of experience in the design and construction of fire protection systems and/or fire protection consulting
- Willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
- Willing to travel for specific project needs
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Building & Fire Codes and NFPA Codes & Standards
- Degree in fire protection engineering
- Professional Engineer License (P.E., passed the Principles of Engineering exam)
- NICET certification in relevant fire protection programs
- Ability to lead project design teams
- Knowledgeable in OSHA compliance
- Fire & Smoke software modeling capabilities
- Construction Administration experience
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit
