Fire Plans Examiner & Inspector

Job Summary
Review architectural plans and system shop drawings for compliance with Federal, State, and local fire safety laws. Conduct technical inspections of commercial, multi-family, institutional, and industrial construction, as well as existing places of assembly and business establishments. Perform fire plans reviews for new construction and renovations, and inspect fire alarm systems. Advise on hazardous field conditions and provide direction on building projects. Prepare reports on inspection findings, order corrections, and conduct follow-up enforcement. Maintain inspection records and statistics while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Commercial Plans Review experience
- Professional demeanor
- Technical and industry experience
- Team player
- Extensive knowledge of international, state and local building and fire life safety codes and current construction procedures/technology
- Ability to positively interact with other staff members, the general public, contractors, and governmental agencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Superior time management, organization, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
- Ability to prepare written plan review correspondence and update information in software programs
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced atmosphere
- State of Florida Certified Fire Inspector license
- Experience as a Fire Plans Reviewer and Inspector
Desired Qualifications
- Engineer or a Degree in Fire Science
- Degree in Fire Prevention
- State of Florida Certified Fire Inspection II or III
