Job Summary

Conduct firefighting and paramedic duties, including emergency vehicle operation, fire suppression, patient transport, and overhaul. Perform fire cause investigations, conduct building inspections for code compliance, and lead incident commands. Maintain emergency response vehicles and equipment, prepare incident reports, and participate in community outreach and training programs. Serve as primary Fire Apparatus Operator and assume command in the absence of senior officers. Maintain state of readiness, engage in continuing education, and foster a work environment supporting diversity and integrity.

  • Knowledge of vehicular and equipment maintenance and repair techniques
  • Knowledge of pump operations
  • Knowledge of water flow
  • Knowledge of water supply for ladder truck and engines
  • Knowledge of fire and building codes
  • Knowledge of fire cause investigations
  • Knowledge of the geography and boundaries of the city
  • Skill in the operation of computers and various software programs
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in demonstrating teamwork
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work
  • Associates' degree
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri
  • Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the certification standards as established by the Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office
  • License requirements from the State of Missouri, Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of EMS
  • Missouri state licensed Paramedic
  • National Registry
  • MO Firefighter I and II Certified
  • hazmat ops
  • No routine facility-to-facility transfers
  • Traditional 24/48 Schedule
  • Possess or able to obtain valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Desired Qualifications

  • CPAT certification
  • FAO Certification
