Job Summary
Full-time Fire Medical Officer in the FDNY's Bureau of Health Services. Primary duties include assessing medical qualifications for candidates and incumbents in Firefighter, Fire Officer, EMT, Paramedic, and EMS Officer; guiding testing for duty determinations and continued fitness for duty; participating on department medical evaluation boards; potential involvement in preventive medicine-related research projects; examining and assessing ill or injured members for validity of absence, disability assessment, and recommendations on disability duration; and responding to emergencies requiring the immediate presence of an FMO, including triage at scenes and hospital visits.
Required Qualifications
- Valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York
- Board Certification issued by the appropriate American Specialty Board in any specialty area
- Full and unrestricted medical license in NY
