Fire/Life Safety Field Technician III

Job Summary

Conduct on-site inspections, validation, testing, and verification of fire/life safety and mechanical equipment, including observing startup activities and troubleshooting system components. Develop testing plans and procedures by preparing pre-functional checklists and functional performance test scripts while reviewing shop drawings and submittals. Collaborate with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and authorities having jurisdiction to test, validate, and make operational newly installed systems in mission-critical facilities. Prepare project progress reports and contribute to final commissioning reports for internal and external stakeholders. Manage personal hours using company tools and complete assigned tasks on time and on budget. Perform duties with independent judgment or under supervision, adhering to site safety requirements and company goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or related discipline
  • Two years' experience with installation, hands-on testing, validation and troubleshooting of mechanical and controls infrastructure
  • Minimum three years' additional experience with installation, hands-on testing, validation and troubleshooting of mechanical and controls infrastructure
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to rent vehicles
  • Must be located near a major airport
  • Valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport)
  • Knowledge of fire/life safety, mechanical and controls system principles
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Achieve certification for NFPA70E and / or OSHA training as / if required
