Job Summary
Oversee the building's fire safety plan, manage the Fire Command Station, and supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, and evacuation supervisors. Act as the primary liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies and ensure all life safety systems and equipment remain fully functional. Conduct fire alarm drills, maintain written logs of critiques, and perform visual inspections of visitor and employee access badges to prevent unauthorized entry. Provide clear direction to clients, guests, and vendors while maintaining constant mental alertness and the ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly. Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid as required.
Required Qualifications
- F85 or F89 Certificate of Fitness (NY Only)
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
- Must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
- Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting
- Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions
- Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume general public
- Must be able to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
- Read, understand and clearly speak English
- Correctable vision to normal level required
- Correctable hearing to normal level required
- Must successfully complete a background investigation
- Must successfully complete a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Must maintain current active status of all required License at all times
- Must carry the license at all times while on duty
- Must be able to stand or walk constantly for up to an entire shift
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally
- Must be able to occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck
- Must be able to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to run as needed
- Must be able to constantly use both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering
- Must be able to constantly use eyes to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors
- Must be able to work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat
- Must be able to maintain constant mental alertness and attention to detail
- Must be able to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard
- Must have a neat and professional appearance
- Must be able to provide quality customer service
- Must be able to perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with badge systems or access control
- Experience with alarm panels
- Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
