Job Summary
Manage the building's fire safety plan by supervising the fire brigade, floor wardens, and evacuation supervisors while acting as the primary liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies. Ensure all life safety systems and equipment remain fully functional, conduct fire alarm drills, and maintain written logs to identify response weaknesses. Provide clear direction to visitors, vendors, and employees, assist security staff in badge verification, and monitor for suspicious persons or packages. Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid as required while maintaining constant mental alertness and attention to detail in a high-pressure environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
- Ability to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting
- Computer skills
- Ability to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions
- Current active status of all required License
- Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard
- Neat and professional appearance
- Ability to provide quality customer service
- Ability to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
- Read, understand and clearly speak English
- Correctable vision to normal level
- Correctable hearing to normal level
- Licensed by the New York State Department of State
- Must be able to lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, or ladders
- Must be able to stand or walk constantly for up to an entire shift
- Must be able to occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck
- Must be able to run as needed
- Must be able to constantly use both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering
- Must be able to constantly use eyes to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors
- Must be able to constantly use speech and hearing in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones
- Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume general public
- Must successfully complete a background investigation
- Must successfully complete a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Must remain flexible to ever changing environments
- Must adapt well to different situations
- Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
