Fire Life Safety Director - Corporate Building

Job Summary
Manage the building's fire safety plan by supervising the fire brigade, floor wardens, and evacuation supervisors while acting as the primary liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies. Ensure all life safety systems and equipment remain fully functional by conducting regular fire alarm drills, maintaining detailed logs of critiques, and performing visual inspections of visitor and employee access badges to prevent unauthorized access. Provide clear direction and assistance to clients, vendors, and employees on a regular basis, maintain surveillance for suspicious activity, and perform CPR/AED and first aid as required. Work Monday through Friday in morning or afternoon shifts, standing or walking constantly throughout the day, with a requirement for a current active license and successful background investigation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
- Ability to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting
- Computer skills
- Ability to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions
- Must successfully complete a background investigation
- Must successfully complete a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Must maintain current active status of all required License at all times
- Must carry the license at all times while on duty
- Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Ability to remain flexible to ever changing environments
- Ability to adapt well to different situations
- Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
- Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard
- Neat and professional appearance
- Ability to provide quality customer service
- Ability to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
- Ability to read, understand and clearly speak English
- Correctable vision to normal level required
- Correctable hearing to normal level required
- Licensed by the New York State Department of State
