Job Summary
Oversee the fire safety plan for a commercial building in Columbus Circle, Manhattan, by managing the Fire Command Station and supervising the fire brigade, floor wardens, and evacuation supervisors. Act as the primary liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies, ensuring all life safety systems and equipment remain fully functional. Conduct fire alarm drills, maintain written logs of critiques, and provide clear direction to visitors, guests, vendors, and employees during both routine operations and crisis situations. Assist security staff in verifying access badges and monitor surveillance for suspicious activity. Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid as required. This part-time role involves afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts Monday through Sunday, with an hourly rate of $28.81 to $29.81. Candidates must hold an F85 or F89 Certificate of Fitness (NY Only).
Required Qualifications
- F85 or F89 Certificate of Fitness (NY Only)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
- Ability to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting
- Computer skills
- Ability to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions
- Successful completion of a background investigation
- Successful completion of a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Current active status of all required License
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Ability to adapt well to different situations
- Intermediate computer skills
