Fire Investigator - Part-time (NAFI-CFEI required at minimum, IAAI-CFI preferred)

Job Summary
Investigates the origin and cause of fires and explosions in various settings. Conducts forensic analysis, secures scenes, collects evidence, and conducts fraud analyses. Prepares detailed reports and provides testimony as needed. Requires analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients. Certified NAFI-CFEI is required, with IAAI-CFI preferred within 18 months. AAS degree in related fields is necessary, along with significant relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- NAFI-CFEI certification required
- AAS in Fire Science, Fire Investigation, Forensic Science, or related experience as a fire investigator, firefighter, or law enforcement officer/investigator
- Ability to obtain IAAI-CFI within 18 months
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of related work experience in fire investigation or a related field
- Ability to interact and communicate with clients at all levels
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office and computer-assisted engineering/ design software
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard scientific and technical reports, journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to write scopes of work clearly and coherently, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents
- Capable of effectively presenting information to top management, clients, public groups, and/or boards of directors
