Job Summary
Investigate and analyze the origin and cause of fire and explosion events within residential, commercial, and industrial sites per NFPA 921 and 1033. Collect evidence, document scenes, photograph incident sites, and preserve equipment for client disposition. Interview witnesses, including owners, occupants, and fire service personnel, to record statements and canvass neighborhoods. Identify and analyze compliance with applicable codes for fire suppression and detection systems. Research failure modes, prepare recommendations for stakeholders, and submit accurate reports outlining damage causes. Maintain relationships with current clients and collaborate effectively on complex assignments. Requires CFI certification, 5+ years of practical experience, and ability to work in catastrophic environments. Salary $75-$85/hr.
Required Qualifications
- CFI certification
- 5 years of practical experience in Fire & Explosion Investigation
- Curious mind
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in a work capacity
- Must be bondable and eligible for licensing as a private investigator where so required
- Ability to obtain NAFI-CFEI certification within 6 months of hire
