Job Summary
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of fire suppression and control systems, including annual testing and troubleshooting minor repairs. Respond to fire alarms, fires, and medical emergencies while performing drug and alcohol screenings on injured employees. Complete data entry for system impairments, manage Department of Homeland Security inventory, and remove lock-out/tag-out locks per procedures. Evaluate work areas for fire potential prior to hot work and support contractors as needed. Provide basic emergency care and environmental response assistance in accordance with approved policies. Requires current Tennessee paramedic or EMT-A certification, CPR/AED training, and two years of firefighting or EMS experience. Full-time day shift at Blount Memorial Hospital in Alcoa.
Required Qualifications
- Current paramedic or emergency medical technician advanced (EMT-A) certificate to practice professionally in Tennessee
- 2 years minimum Firefighter/ HazMat / EMS experience
- CPR and AED certification
- Knowledge of office equipment
- Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)
- Knowledge of scope of practice according to State regulations
- Ability to communicate clearly in a positive manner
- Ability to maintain a positive and open attitude to change
- Ability to be self-directed, motivated, to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work efficiently and effectively
- Ability to think critically and problem solve while remaining focused in a stressful or fast paced environment
