Fire Engineer

Job Summary
Provide key technical input and leadership on fire safety engineering projects from inception through completion, developing solutions that meet New Zealand Building Code requirements. Work directly with clients and project teams to understand challenges and explain technical issues, while participating in site inspections and construction reviews. Prepare and review technical reports, collaborate with architects and contractors, and challenge conventional approaches to achieve optimal outcomes. Mentor developing engineers and represent Jensen Hughes at industry events to build client relationships and grow the brand presence within the New Zealand market.
Required Qualifications
- New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or another relevant engineering discipline
- Previous experience working in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety Compliance
- Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant fire safety Standards
- Experience working on fire engineering projects and developing practical solutions to complex problems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to clients and project stakeholders
- Experience building relationships, networking and managing client relationships
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work with some of the industry's best technical professionals
- The ability to take ownership of projects while working effectively as part of a wider team
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally a Masters in Fire Engineering
- An interest in mentoring and helping develop less experienced engineers
