Job Summary
Fire Detection Service Technician role performing troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair on fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites. Primary duties include receiving service calls, communicating with customer contacts, diagnosing equipment problems, following manuals and change notices to repair systems, reading blueprints and schematics, servicing and installing various manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems (including SimplexGrinnell), and documenting service work. Candidates must have strong customer service skills, the ability to interpret technical manuals, and capabilities in low-voltage electrical work, panel programming for fire alarm, security, and access control systems. The role involves on-call shifts, training or mentoring others on the service team, and occasional after-hours work; travel and physical work (ladder/scaffold work, lifting up to 50-70 lbs) are expected. Training and on-going development opportunities available; company vehicle may be provided. Expertise in reading diagrams, submittals, and manuals, plus familiarity with CCTV/IT network basics is a plus. NICET certification is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals
- Knowledge of test equipment: multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Capable of performing physical labor (up to 50-70 lbs)
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
- NICET Level II certification strongly preferred
