Job Summary
Investigate and evaluate the origin and cause of fires and explosions by performing scene examinations, debris removal, and reconstruction. Interview witnesses, fire department personnel, and investigating officials while collecting public records and conducting product research. Effectively communicate opinions verbally and in writing, and testify in depositions or court. Meet with current and potential clients, including insurance and legal industry personnel. Requires nationally recognized origin and cause certification and familiarity with NFPA standards. Must be willing to work in inclement weather and clear debris in hazardous environments. Located in the Philadelphia, PA area with hybrid scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Nationally recognized origin and cause certification (IAAI-CFI or NAFI-CFEI)
- Must not have been disqualified as an expert witness
- No disciplinary actions or revocation of professional licenses
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be willing and able to clear fire/explosion debris, reconstruct the scene, and examine building systems at heights or in confined spaces, dark enclosed areas, excessive heat, and soot-filled environment
- Must be capable of digging, bending, and lifting, as well as moving and loading heavy or bulky objects
- Must be able to work in inclement weather
- Must be willing to work additional hours as needed during peak times
- Must be willing and able to clear fire/explosion debris, reconstruct the scene, and examine building systems at heights or in confined spaces, dark enclosed areas, excessive heat, and soot-filled environment
- Must be capable of digging, bending, and lifting, as well as moving and loading heavy or bulky objects

Desired Qualifications
- Experience on the private side
- Familiarity with and understanding of the insurance policy
- Knowledgeable about subrogation and liability issues
- Excellent communication skills and practices, both verbal and written
- Strong understanding of NFPA 1033 and 921, and how they relate to our industry
- Testimony experience
- College degree
