Fire and Security Technician

Job Summary
Install, configure, and test fire alarm systems, security systems (CCTV, access control), and related hardware and software according to project plans. Run wiring, mount devices, and connect systems to network infrastructure while adhering to codes and regulations. Assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing basic repairs under the guidance of the Lead Technician. Conduct inspections to ensure proper functionality and report deficiencies. Adhere to all safety protocols, use PPE, and report hazards. Work collaboratively on installation teams to complete projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fire alarm and/or security systems installer
- Experience working with various types of fire, burglar, intrusion security systems, access control systems, and security camera systems
- Technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, security systems, security cameras, and related hardware and software
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring and low-voltage systems
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity to handle small components and tools
- Primarily on-site at client locations
- Occasional work in the office or warehouse
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods
- 2 years of experience with Burglar Alarm
- 2 years of experience with Security Cameras
- 2 years of experience with Access Control
- 2 years of experience with Networked Devices (IoT)
- Nights as needed
- Weekends as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in electronics, fire protection, or a related field
- AESBL certification
- NICET certification
- NFPA certification
- ESA certification
- Manufacturer-specific certifications
- 2 years of experience with Fire alarm
